WHAT’S A SLOPER?

Slopers, also called blocks, are the foundational paper pattern pieces created from your unique body measurements. I like to think of them as 2D dress forms made exactly for you. These are no-frills, absolutely basic pattern pieces from which all other pattern pieces can be designed.

WHAT IS A MUSLIN?

After you make your slopers, you’ll make muslins, which are the fabric versions of your slopers, and you’ll get an opportunity to test and tweak further when you make them.

Okay, first things first: all you perfectionists, I see you. I feel you. I’m a recovering perfectionist myself, and I know that the temptation will be to work on these slopers until the fit is absolutely spot on. Don’t do it!

DON’T LET SLOPERS INTIMIDATE YOU!

Trust me on this — I made five versions of a lower body sloper until I finally realised that the weird wrinkle I just couldn’t eliminate near my left butt cheek
