Legislation changes to have positive impact on self-building

The government recently announced an amendment to its Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill, which should positively impact self-builders. Currently, legislation is making it easy for local authorities to reject planning proposals and avoid freeing up plots for self-building, but the Bill revisions could change that.

The Bill is currently making its way through Parliament and undergoing various modifications, one of which aims to clarify the responsibility councils have when it comes to providing enough land to meet the demand
