IN 1966, three young mates from Rotorua, Soren Thomasen, Ray Oakley and Alf Lucken, decided to drive to Auckland in Alf's ‘34 coupe and enter Ray's ‘31 Model A roadster in the Epson Hot Rod Show. Talking with Bob Rossiter, Rob Campbell and Ralph Wright after the Show, the boys returned to Rotorua with a firm resolve to form a Hot Rod Club.
