DALTON SMITH was forced to go the full route for a second consecutive bout when the plucky but outclassed Billy Allington heard the final bell before losing a wide unanimous decision.

It was Smith’s second successful defence of his British super-lightweight title and sets up a clash with Sam Maxwell, who won a routine six-rounder on the bill, for later in the year.

The highly regarded Smith, who outpointed Kaisee Benjamin in November, boxed his way to an early lead over the opening nine minutes before upping the pressure
