Q Is it worth fitting a sidewheel to my scope? I mainly use my rifle for plinking, but I do go hunting from time to time and think that fitting my gun with the sidewheel might give me a bit of an advantage.

A AS WITH most things in life, not much comes for free, and while a sidewheel offers advantages, these are countered by a number of disadvantages, so it's ultimately up to you to examine all the factors and decide whether the pros outweigh the cons.
On the plus side, there's little doubt that a sidewheel provides a massive boost to fidelity when a shooter is adjusting parallax. Sidewheels, and their cut-down shark's fin-style equivalents, are often used by Field Target shooters as a precise means of ranging a target due to this boost in fidelity.
