Reducing dietary FODMAPs
A diet low in fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides and polyols (FODMAPs) may be better than treatment with antispasmodics in people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), according to a small randomised trial in primary care. After eight weeks, the majority of those allocated to a smartphone FODMAP-lowering diet app reported symptomatic improvement compared with those taking antispasmodics.
