HIGH SCORE Q&A

Can you start by telling us a bit about yourself?

I’m 46 years old and I live in Trieste, Italy. I’m a full-time high-scoring enthusiast and I manage the official database of Italian arcade records.

What’s your history with Konami’s game?

I first played in a bar back in 1990. At the time I could complete the first loop with one credit, but couldn’t get through the second without using another credit. I started playing again in 2005 and in the meantime my skills had greatly increased. I trained for an entire month and on 6 July 2005 I achieved a score of 1,695,200 which I was happy with. My goal was higher – around 1.8 million points – but since each attempt required a game session of around three hours, and I was only able to try once a day, I gave up after a certain number of attempts from reaching my goal.
