Richard Klekociuk

GROWING UP IN TASMANIA, AUSTRALIA, an island rich in environmental diversity and with little development, Richard Klekociuk always had a strong affinity with the landscape. The highland regions of Tasmania are especially precious to him in both memory and appearance, as well as the many coastal and rural parts of the island. At a young age, he loved drawing what he saw, especially through his bedroom window. His surroundings were important to him then and still are today.

He graduated from art school in 1971 as a keen abstract painter and sculptor, having developed a style that simplified what he saw in the land.
