KIA SPORTAGE 2.0 CRDi AWD

“If you look inside the driver ’s footwell, at the top of the clutch pedal, there are a couple of switches and one of them has stuck ,” comments Mark Shipman of AES as we try to diagnose the lack of cruise control on our Kia Sportage. After connecting his diagnostic equipment, he can see those switches being activated by pressing and releasing the clutch pedal. One of them isn’t responding , which probably explains why our cruise control isn’t working. These switches enable the cruise control to be deactivated, such as pressing the clutch pedal to change gear, or pressing the brake pedal. They are safety-critical for disabling the cruise control, so if they are not responding , the cruise control won’t switch on. And they also enable other features to work, such as brake assist – this avoids the need to use the handbrake on a hill start by pressing the brake pedal and after releasing it,
