As Heather Strube strapped her little boy into his car seat, dozens of other shoppers came and went from the busy Target carpark.
The 25-year-old single mum had just picked up 18-month-old Carson from her husband, Steven, with whom she was going through a messy divorce.
The pair, who’d met at a youth group as teenagers, married in 2004, and welcomed Carson three years later. But by 2008 their marriage had crumbled.
Heather believed Steven had cheated on her, and had filed for divorce. Steven denied the claims.
