Anger over state of emergency announcement

PRESIDENT Cyril Ramaphosa’s declaration of a state of emergency during the recent State of the Nation Address sparked concerns that government would impose restrictions that infringe on citizens’ rights, similar to those put into place during the state of emergency introduced in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
