Pacific given green light for landmark visit to KESR line

BATTLE ofBritainNo. 34072 257 Squadron is to visit the Kent & East Sussex Railway during April and May after a‘will it, won’t it?’dilemma over such concerns as whether the Pacific was too large and heavy for the light railway.

The decision, announced by general manager Robin Coombes on January 31, brought delight and relief to staff and volunteers following weeks of deliberation during which the visit of the Spa Valley Railwaybased Pacific was in the balance.
