RESCUING RYEGATE

n time-lapse photography, there is the classic sequence of the ever-still tree that grows and surrenders leaves over and over as the years pass, while the stars and sun, day and night, infinitely chase their tails around it. This was how looked in the shed at Suffolk Yacht Harbour (SYH) for five years, as other boats came and went. The flared shape of her bows were noticeable even as she sat petrified on terra firma under the knife of the various surgeons who resuscitated her. Five years is not all that long for a rebuild in the grand scheme of things, and in 2022 the yard called to say that Ryegate was afloat again.
