Initially, I had no plan of rebuilding the motor. Being eight years old, my previous 1397CC hot rod 36-horse motor (which I call Version 1.0) was running strong when we removed it in February 2022. So, my plan was to put it back into the Bug after finishing the transmission conversion. However, as we wrenched on the new tunnel case gearbox, Tony was finishing the development of a new 74mm stroker crankshaft for 25/36hp engines and needed a 36hp motor to install it for testing. Of course, I jumped on board and we took my engine apart last August.
