The Ramón Allones Private Stock 230 cigar

When you’re invited to Mark’s Club for a 50th anniversary cigar dinner, as I was last October, the scene is immediately set for a special night. The menu was scrumptious, the wine diligently chosen, the dress code black-tie, and Jemma Freeman was in attendance. The terrace at Mark’s, still the greatest place in London to smoke, was soon full of members who joined the club in order to enjoy Cuba’s most delectable export amid great comfort and service. Cigars are important to them, and they were excited for something special to be placed by their name card.

On arrival we were handed the 225 Aniversario by Ramón Allones, which was released in 2015. It is hard to find, and a real joy to see the famous cabeza tumbada, or dropped head vitola, but it was also an aperitif to amuse our in advance of the reveal after the main course: the Ramón Allones Private Stock 230.
