Three Thousand Years of Longing

8/7c, MGM+

An academic named Alithea (Tilda Swinton), at a conference in Istanbul, buys an exotic bottle and out comes a djinn (Idris Elba, above, with Swinton) in a puff of smoke, ready to grant three wishes so he can be freed forever. Alithea is not the wishing kind, so the djinn regales her with tales of his centuries of longings and lovings. The 2022 film is beautiful at times, overstuffed at others, but a joy for fans of –type tales and the visuals of filmmaker George Miller ().
