Proving she means business, the Princess of Wales headed out and about last week as her groundbreaking campaign to transform early childhood kicked off.
In her first major speech since taking on her new title, Kate vowed to “shine a spotlight” on the crucial ages of nought to five, following up with an animated film, a visit to Leeds, conversations with celebrity early years champions and the launch of a thought-provoking social-media project.
Wearing a head-turning trouser suit by Alexander McQueen in Welsh red, the Princess took to the stage at Bafta’s headquarters in London to tell supporters about the Shaping Us campaign to support early years, which will be the defining focus of her working life.
She was joined by her proud husband the Prince and a stellar line-up of celebrities, all household names in their respective fields and eager to lend their support. Famous faces at the event included presenter Fearne Cotton, singer Rochelle Humes, England women’s football captain Leah Williamson and broadcaster Kate Silverton, who has retrained as a child therapist and was compering the launch event.
