Jaffa Lam Chasing an Elusive Nature

lthough Jaffa Lam is best known for her works engaging Hong Kong’s (2022), a sculpture made of wood, evoked the soft ripples of water. Several works incorporated discarded umbrellas, including (2022), in which she transformed an industrial trolley into a stained-glass window made from a patchwork of fabric. In the sculpture (2022), Lam used white-painted wooden slates to capture the ephemerality of clouds, which were mounted on a standing umbrella anchored by a scholar’s rock and hovered over visitors.
