What affected you the most this year in New York?

Most events have been violent in the United States. I’ve read so much about gun violence and the war in Ukraine through the lens of the American press, which really affects the politics. I’ve tried to read other things too, but they are very concentrated on their own perspectives—it is impossible to look away from those pounding, repeated statements of their positions. But perhaps it’s not the same for every New Yorker. I just happen to be in academia and I have a toddler so I have to be very cautious.
