Male = Stag
Female = Hind
Young = Calf (mistakenly called a fawn by many hunters)
The first Red deer were introduced to New Zealand in Nelson in the early 1850s, and several other liberations occurred all over the country until the mid-1920s. Red deer can now be found from the Kaimai Ranges in the northern Bay of Plenty all the way down to Stewart
