Travelling man

Inspiration for custom VW projects come from all different places. Sometimes straight out of our brains, other times from outside sources. In this case, it leapt straight off the pages of Super VW magazine, more specifically one of the regular monthly illustrations by Pascal Meslet, the French artist who has long been associated with the magazine.

Its owner is our old friend, and regular contributor / joint editor of the very same magazine, Serge Le Flohic, so who better to tell the tale in full than the man himself? Over to you Serge.

I’ve been passionate about Volkswagens, but also hot rods and customs, since I was 15 years old, thanks mainly to reading French magazines such as Auto Loisir, Nitro and Super VW, but also the American magazine Rod & Custom.

At the beginning of the 1990s, on my first to California, I discovered this world for real, and remember seeing a Woody built on a Beetle base by the guys at Mooneyes at the VW Classic. I fell instantly in love as it combined both my passion for VWs and hot rods and customs in general.

By that time I was working at magazine and my job took up all my time.
