STAKING CLAIMS TO JOE BURROW CARDS

Over the past few years, the leaders of the hobby’s young QB brigade have been Patrick Mahomes II and Josh Allen. Joe Burrow may have stepped into their stratosphere on Jan. 22, 2023.

That was the day he outdueled Allen in the AFC Divisional playoff game, when his Bengals went to Buffalo and beat the Bills decisively, 27-10.

Back in 2020, Burrows’ highly anticipated rookie season ended abruptly after 10 games due to a leg injury. But he came back in 2021 to throw for 4,611 yards and 34 touchdowns. This season, he had an equally productive season: 4,475 yards and 35 TDs. And collectors are clearly staking their claim on the young QB.

Consider these prices paid in a half-dozen recent eBay sales:

• $25,000 on one bid for a Gem-Mint PSA 10 specimen of his 2020 Panini Flawless autographed patch card (see Top 10 chart).
