he David H Koch Theater was first opened in April 1964 and was commissioned by the State of New York to be part of that year's World's Fair. Originally it was known as The New York State Theater and it was only in 2008 when businessman and philanthropist David IT Koch pledged $100 million to the theatre that it was renamed in his honour.
