After making its breakthrough with a game about ninjas (2016’s Shadow Tactics) and a followup about cowboys (2020’s Desperados III), for this spiritual successor Mimimi has turned once more to the childhood dressing-up box for inspiration. At least, that’s how we initially assume the German studio landed on pirates as the stars of Shadow Gambit. However, head of design Moritz Wagner tells it a little differently.
