Clambering up onto the roof of my local market, I realised a big crowd had gathered to watch.
Two baby seagulls were lying, injured, having fallen from a high nest.
Knowing their mum would be protective, I made a decision to rescue the gulls anyway.
‘Ow!’ I screamed, as she swiped me with her sharp beak.
Feeling a fresh cut on the back of my neck, I carried on anyway, determined.
And eventually, I got within arm’s reach of the baby chicks.
Everyone cheered as I managed to sweep them up and bring them to safety.
The mum followed me all the way home, about two miles up the road, but I knew I had done the right thing.
I nursed the babies to health, reuniting them with their mum when they were fully recovered.
