As I mentioned in a previous issue, this restoration project was tackled in a slightly different way than I usually approach tractors of this sort and, overall, I think that it worked well. I don’t normally get involved with tractors of this sort, but it was interesting to work on this Hop Garden converted Fordson and to note the differences between it and the standard model.

Rather fittingly, this Hop Garden tractor was being returned to an old oast house in Kent, somewhere close to where it must have spent its working life. When Timothy Lyons sent the machine to me for restoration, I don’t think he fully appreciated
