FINISHING TOUCHES

Building or renovating is a big journey to go on. From finalising plans to hiring trades and selecting materials, it involves a mountain of decisions. So, it’s no wonder that by the time your home is ‘done’, you probably are, too. And it can be tempting to rush or downgrade the task of choosing light switches, power points, door handles, knobs, pulls, skirting boards and mouldings. “It’s just a light switch,” you might say. “We can swap it out later if need be.”

But before you go down that track, think twice. These may seem like small details, but finishing touches are infinitely important. And chances are, you won’t swap them out again anytime soon. Admittedly, by the end of a renovation or build, the kitty is probably empty, but that brings us back to the fact that finishing touches should be selected early in the design process
