Whether it’s a cool desktop effect, cleverly designed application or a bizarre problem to be solved, we all have had to capture screenshots at one time or another. Most desktop distributions feature a default screenshot utility, and you have the choice of several more in your software repositories. More often than not, though, the default screenshot utility is limited to capturing either the entire desktop, the active window or a portion of the screen. But what if you could do all three and, more importantly, create a screencast recording of your screen – and all from the comfort of the CLI?
