Painting by serendipity

I am always on the lookout for a subject with a narrative, invariably those with human interaction. Devlin's is the oldest and most renowned fruit and veg seller on the Portobello Road in London. They came to my attention and admiration during the summer pandemic, when they stoically kept an on-street presence, to both feed and raise the spirits of the neighbourhood. As such I always keep an ear open for the quick banter when I pass, and recently caught a good moment as a discerning local ensured that she got the best.
