■ Epyx’s military-themed shoot-’em-up was the perfect launch game for the Lynx as it instantly highlighted all the elements that made Atari’s handheld so desirable at launch. It genuinely felt like having After Burner in the palm of your hands back in 1989 and while that impact has diminished somewhat in the last 30-odd years, Epyx’s game remains an impressive technical achievement. Packed with action and featuring a fair amount of variety, Blue Lightning remains a great blaster and an essential Lynx purchase, even if it isn’t as fast as we remember it.
