The definitive ‘Dyson’: Accurascale’s ‘OO’ Class 92

UNFORTUNATELY for ‘Dyson’ fans, the bulk of the Class 92 fleet, which was built between 1993 and 1996 for Channel Tunnel freight and EPS Nightstar services, is either stored or has found further employment in Europe.

Around 18 or so locomotives currently see regular use in the UK including Caledonian Sleeper trains. While the collapse of the Nightstar project saw the Class 92 used exclusively on freight duties, it remained a much under-utilised class due to lower than anticipated volumes of freight traffic through the Channel Tunnel. Consequently, several examples have been stored for over 20 years.
