The Golden Globes returned in dazzling style as Hollywood celebrated its biggest talents with some high-octane, old-school glamour. Last year there were no stars, no red carpet and no TV broadcast, only a private ceremony amid controversy over a lack of diversity and ethical lapses.
But cut to 2023 and a host of A-listers shimmered brightly at the Beverly Hilton hotel, kicking off this year’s award season in a triumphant return to form.
As usual, eyes were as firmly fixed on the fashion as on the gongs, with gowns and suits in a rainbow of colours from metallic silvers and golds to blushing pinks, lemon yellows, vibrant reds and electric blues. And it wasn’t just the women putting on a sartorial show – the men also stepped out of the shadows to shine, with star Donald Glover in white satin Saint Laurent and Billy Porter in a pink velvet tuxedo gown.
