Reduce resource usage in Windows 11

Firefox 108, which was released in December, adds support for Windows 11’s ‘Efficiency mode’, which makes programs use less memory and processing power. The new option is enabled by default in the browser so you can use Windows Task Manager to reduce its system-resource usage when your PC starts slowing down or your laptop is running low on battery.

Launch Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc and open the list of Firefox processes. Right-click the top one, which relates to the main browser, and select ‘Efficiency mode’ (see screenshot below). Windows 11 will ask if you want to turn on Efficiency mode for Firefox. Click ‘OK’ to confirm and switch to Efficiency mode – you shouldn’t
