Volunteers rally to thaw out effects of the UK’s deep freeze

THE suddensnowfallofDecember11 led to picturesque moments for Santa specials, illumination trains and Polar Expresses in several parts of the UK, but the joy was short-lived for some as a week of below-freezing temperatures led to big problems – with Friday, December 16 proving the worst.
