Printing matters

In response to Mike Nicholls’ Letter of the Week I too am unhappy at the decline in the number of photographers who print their images. As a Scottish Photographic Federation judge, I visit a number of clubs each year and have noticed the reduction in the number of prints submitted in club contests while the number of projected digital images (PDIs) is constant or increases. Discussing this with camera club members, the most frequent explanation is that printing is expensive.
