Scoring the mother of all Brit sleeper hits with his 2019 BAFTA-netting Bait, Mark Jenkin doubled down on all the things that made that film unique – its rough-edged performances, expressive editing, textured 16mm photography – and came up with Enys Men, in which a botanist (Mary Woodvine) experiences the cabin fever of being alone on an island.
