It seems an age, almost, since I last fished in anything like a normal water. Two recent visits to the River Nidd near my home found the water too high for perfection, whereas in earlier times it had been too low to get on to terms with the grayling. By hounding one small piece of quiet water, however, I did manage to come home with five modestly sized grayling and I am eagerly awaiting the chance to get on to terms with some more.

In the interim, I have not been idle. There have been lots of office chores to attend to before the year end and I have managed to sneak away for three very interesting
