INTERVIEW

Did you always know that you wanted to go into management?

I retired due to my back at 33, and it was just a case of seeing what I wanted to do. I did a bit of media work and enjoyed that, but I started doing my badges and got the bug for developing young players, having always thought about giving senior management a shot. I’m a big believer in stretching yourself, taking yourself out of your comfort zone. It’s the only way you can better yourself in life.

Were there coaches you played for that inspired you in particular?
