1921 Scottish census released

The 1921 Scottish census was published on the official government site ScotlandsPeople (scotlandspeople.gov.uk) at 9am on 30 November 2022.

The 1921 Scottish census was originally due to be published in summer 2021, but publication was postponed by over a year.

The contract to transcribe the records was awarded to Queen’s University Belfast in January.

In total 4.8 million records were added to ScotlandsPeople. They cost six credits to view (equivalent to £1.50), with 30 credits for £7.50 being the smallest number that you can purchase.

The notable Scots who are recorded in the census include geologist and palaeontologist Ethel Dobbie Currie (18991963), who can be found with her parents James and Elizabeth Currie and her brother Raymond, a medical student in Glasgow. Her occupation is listed as
