It’s fair to say that Paula Radcliffe, a three-time winner of both the London and New York marathons and a former world record holder, has run her way to the top. It took determination, grit and strength for the 49-year-old to become a champion, and it was these qualities that helped when her daughter Isla was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 13.

Thankfully, Isla is recovering well, and she how her athletic history helped her cope with the traumatic experience.
