Investment platforms, commonly known as fund supermarkets, allow you to buy, sell and hold funds, stocks and other assets. You could argue that platforms have opened up investing to the masses; we now have a world of investing where we no longer need a stockbroker or an adviser to buy funds or pick a pension for us.

We can all do it online or through an app and pick our own platforms and investments, or even allow providers to design a ready-made portfolio for us.
