C harlesLutwidge Dodgson, Oxford maths lecturer and, under his pen name Lewis Carroll author and poet, died 125 years ago, leaving behind him one of the best-loved characters in the history of children’s literature. His books Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, published in 1865, and Through the Looking-Glass, in 1871, have appeared in a range of volumes, on film, in the theatre, in animated format and on television to captivate children and adults for over 150 years.
To commemorate the anniversary,
