There is never any quarter asked – and certainly none given – on the short ovals, and 2022 was a season when the bandwagon truly got rolling again after the disrupted recent years.
The National Hot Rod season was marked by one of its most special events ever with the special-celebration 50th World Final, which provided a show like no other. And, with it all on the line, the showpiece 75-lap race lived up to the hype too with Rob McDonald scorching his way to the front to become a three-time World Final victor.
In the BriSCA F1 world, the switch of venue to Ipswich for the World Final raised some eyebrows – and a few concerns from fans – but the competitors did the same as the Hot Rod contenders and delivered a truly memorable final. Charlie Sworder, son of stockcar legend Mick, prevailed in a tense trophy race.
