Artist: Ed Clarke (Brave Rival)

Album: Life’s Machine (Self-released)

Lead guitarist Ed ‘The Shred’ Clarke is one fifth of Portsmouth blues-rock outfit Brave Rival, who formed in 2019. Underpinned by some particularly silky guitar licks, the band deliver big when it comes to power and energy. As such, you’d be forgiven for thinking Ed came into this world with a Strat strapped onto him, but his first route into the instrument was much more humble..’ I learned some basic chords, until someone played me Guns N’ Roses’. So Slash was the one who got me started on the whole lead-guitar thing.”
