Ramsgate is the only Royal Harbour in the UK and received the Royal seal of approval from King George IV in 1821 in appreciation of the town’s hospitality when he embarked with the Royal Squadron from Ramsgate to Hanover. Located on the North Sea coast of Thanet in east Kent it is only 35 miles from the French coast.
