The ultimate catch for a big game angler is a fish weighing more than 1,000lb, a feat first achieved off Tahiti 82 years ago. Since 1939 the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) has been the official keeper of world records and lists four 1,000lb plus 'granders’ from Chile, Peru, Nova Scotia and the Great Australian Bight that have resisted challenge.
