The following words are etched in my memory by my mate Brett “Beefy” Burrows after hammering along a pristine section of the Traralgon Motorcycle Club Poker Run track and pulling up, “Gee it's fun when you're having fun”. Beefy's words might sound silly but I knew exactly what he meant in that moment.
The ground was still moist following overnight rain but the sun was out. The blend of dirt on the 15-minute track varied from sand to dark loam, some clay, a couple of loose rocks and some prime soil that can only be described as premium potting mix. The kind of sweet, musty smelling soil that you would pay bulk dollars for at Bunnings, only this stuff was at the base of our tyres as we weaved in and out of trees and up and down hills. It was juicy and delightful.
