COLLECTING LONGACRE DESIGNS: From Tiny to Huge

any collectors dig into one series or another deeply enough to know a fair amount about the person who designed the image or images they like to collect. For example, collectors of the popular Indian Head cents are usually aware that it was Mint Chief Engraver James Barton Longacre who is responsible for the artistry behind that popular design. But that doesn’t mean we are aware that he also designed the Flying Eagle cent that was minted for a few years prior to the Indian Heads.
