Within reason, I look at getting a new puppy when my youngest dog is about two-and-a-half years old. My theory is that it takes me about two years to get a puppy trained ready to go into the shooting field. Ted will be coming up to eight years old and Percy will be coming up to five when Twig is hopefully ready to make her debut behind the gun.
