Collecting physical media in 2022 can be niche-market driven and not for the faint of heart.

It’s one thing to collect full-length LPs, and sure, some can cost you a pretty penny. But how far down the rabbit hole are you willing to go once you’ve accumulated all the rarities you seek?

For some, the next logical step — logical being used with trenchancy — is to stroll down the harrowed halls of 45 collecting. With myriad genres (and subgenres) to focus on, it’s hard to know where to start.

One must ask, “Where do my passions lie, and where will my heart’s desire lead me?”

One such genre is surf rock, a genre bursting at the seams with dusty gems, rare birds and obscurities for days and made for big game hunting, aka “the chase.”
